‘Alohilani Resort, set in the heart of Waikiki, was the first hotel in the state to commit to achieving PAS 2060 carbon-neutral certification, the only recognized international standard for carbon neutrality. The resort embraces other sustainable practices, such as native and drought-tolerant landscaping, compostable packaging for takeout containers, refillable water bottles and more.
Furthermore, in an effort to revive Hawaii’s endangered hardwood species and rehabilitate a native ecosystem, the beachfront property has committed to planting 100,000 native trees in partnership with the Hawaiian Legacy Reforestation Initiative (HLRI). Guests even have the opportunity to tour and plant a tree at the HLRI forest on the picturesque North Shore of Oahu. Throughout April, for every “When in Waikiki” signature cocktail sold, the resort will contribute $1 to HLRI. Additionally, the resort’s “Earth to Cup” happy hour series highlights sustainability, featuring menu items that showcase the rich variety of local produce and sustainable agricultural practices unique to each Hawaiian island.
